Cancún

The most-booked destination wedding city in the Caribbean.

About Cancún

Cancún is the most-booked destination wedding city in the Caribbean for North American couples — and for reason. Direct flights from major US and Canadian hubs land at Cancún International Airport (CUN), the resort inventory in the hotel zone covers every guest count from 25 to 300+, and the wedding-program teams at the major properties have executed enough weddings that there are no surprises during planning. We place more couples in Cancún than any other destination. The resorts most relevant to luxury and South Asian destination weddings sit along the hotel zone (Zona Hotelera) — Moon Palace Cancun, Moon Palace The Grand, Hyatt Ziva Cancun, AVA Resort Cancun, and others. Costa Mujeres, slightly north and quieter, gets its own page; Riviera Maya, slightly south, is also separate. This page focuses on Cancún proper.

Airport & Transfer

Cancún International Airport (CUN) is the gateway. Most North American hubs offer direct flights — flight times run 4–5 hours from Toronto, 4 hours from New York, 2.5 hours from Houston. Resort transfers from CUN to the hotel zone run 20–30 minutes.

Best Wedding Seasons

December through April is peak season: highest pricing, lowest weather risk. May and November are shoulder months — good value, generally reliable weather. June through October is hurricane season — lower pricing, requires weather-aware contract terms.

Why Cancún

Cancún's hotel zone offers the deepest resort inventory in the region. If your guest count, dates, or cultural needs don't fit a specific Costa Mujeres or Riviera Maya property, Cancún almost certainly has an option that does.

Frequently Asked

Planning a Cancún wedding

Is Cancún safe for a destination wedding?

The hotel zone (Zona Hotelera) — where every wedding-friendly resort is located — is a separate, security-controlled tourism corridor. Travel advisories occasionally note conditions in mainland Mexico, but the hotel zone has consistently been one of the safest stretches of beachfront tourism in the Caribbean.

How many guests can a Cancún resort wedding accommodate?

We've placed weddings from 25 guests at intimate Moon Palace Nizuc setups to 300+ guests at Moon Palace The Grand and Hard Rock Cancun. The hotel-zone properties scale across the full range; venue choice matters more than guest count.

Are Sikh, Hindu, and other South Asian weddings well-supported in Cancún?

Yes. Several hotel-zone properties — Moon Palace, Hyatt Ziva, AVA Resort — have executed Anand Karaj, Saat Phere, and full multi-day SA programs. Saroop staging, langar service, dhol players, vegetarian and Jain catering are all proven.

What's the difference between Cancún hotel zone and Costa Mujeres?

Costa Mujeres is roughly 20 minutes north of the hotel zone — quieter beach, smaller crowds, but fewer resort choices. The hotel zone has 10+ wedding-friendly properties, broader dining and excursion options, and the convenience of being central. We help couples decide based on guest count, vibe, and budget.

Do guests need a visa for Cancún?

Most US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for short tourism stays in Mexico. A valid passport (with at least 6 months remaining validity past return date) is required. Some other nationalities may require a visa — we coordinate the requirements per guest as part of the booking process.
